I am a strong believer in the power of rituals in our life, and feel that especially in America we’ve lost a lot of the elements of ritual that other cultures, and even our ancestors might have had. My love for ritual and ceremony led me to focus on becoming a celebrant and become ordained so that I might assist others in creating powerful rituals in their lives.
A celebrant is someone who creates and performs powerful and meaningful ceremonies for life’s many milestones. Life is filled with many more rites of passage than we usually see around us, so I invite you to take a look at the offerings and see if there is a ritual that needs to happen in your life!
“Rites of passage mark one phase of life into another, and humans have an ancient, psychological need for these rituals. Perhaps ritual rites of passage are what we are lacking in the modern world today.” – Mela Borawski
While Mela’s spiritual path is earth-centered and animistic in nature, she honors all respectful religions and spiritual paths, and will facilitate a ritual or ceremony incorporating your personal belief system, if desired. All rituals and ceremonies facilitated by Mela are by donation. She asks that travel and lodging expenses are covered if she has to travel more than 150 miles from home unless other arrangements are made between the parties involved.

What’s the difference between a ritual and a ceremony?
A ceremony is often made up of several rituals, so it is usually longer and more involved. Rituals have one specific purpose and are often much shorter. For instance, weddings may have many rituals involved in the wedding ceremony such as the joining of waters, walking the labyrinth, or the exchanging of rings. A baby blessing could be a very simple ritual, or it could involve several rituals into a much more involved ceremony.
How much is an appropriate donation?
Whatever you are able to afford and feels like a proper exchange of energy, though if necessary, a good rule of thumb is at least $50 for simple rituals, and $150 for more involved ceremonies such as a wedding.
